The World Justice Project (WJP) Rule of Law Index is one of the most widely used international governance indicators. It measures how well countries adhere to the rule of law in practice, not merely whether laws exist on paper. The Index currently covers 143 countries and jurisdictions and is based on large-scale household surveys and expert assessments.

8. Criminal Justice
Effectiveness, impartiality & due process in criminal justice. KPI: Due-process compliant case completion rate
The Rule of Law Index is often used as a proxy for:

- Investment attractiveness
- Political stability
- Corruption control
- Protection of property rights
- Trust in institutions
- Economic development potential
