Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), defined as businesses with fewer than 250 employees, constitute 99.7% of all companies in Switzerland and employ approximately two-thirds of the workforce. Micro-enterprises alone account for nearly 90% of all companies.

Despite their small numbers, large enterprises (those with 250 or more employees) employ over one-third of the total workforce, highlighting their significant role in the Swiss economy.
